Soccer Signs Five Student-Athletes

TEMPE, Ariz. - Fourth year head soccer coach Terri Patraw signed five student-athletes to national letters of intent to study and play soccer, Arizona State University announced Thursday. This year's class includes three freshmen and two junior college transfers. The class also blankets the country, including players from Arizona (2), Texas, Michigan and California. Some of the accolades among the signees include an All-American, two Player of the Year choices, an Olympic Development Program Regional Team selection and numerous all-state and region honorees.

In alphabetical order the signees are:

Holly Cohen
Forward
El Paso, Texas (Franklin HS)
As a junior, Cohen garnered El Paso Player of the Year honors ... earned first-team all-state honors ... first-team all-region selection ... first-team all-city pick ... selected first-team all-district ... was El Paso's leading scorer ... tallied 148 goals during her high school career (still playing) ... chose ASU over Florida, Texas, Baylor and UTEP.

Heather Irwin
Midfielder
Phoenix, Arizona(Phoenix JC)

Earned first-team NSCAA All-American honors ... top 10 national scoring leader in junior colleges with 17 goals ... all-time scoring leader at Phoenix College ... second all-time in overall points in the A.C.C.A.C ... attended Horizon High School, where she was an all-state pick ... chose ASU over San Diego State.

Phoenix, Arizona(Sunnyslope HS)

Four year varsity starter at Sunnyslope High ... garnered 1999 Skyline Region Player of the Year honors ... first-team all-state choice ... first-team all-region selection ... captained the squad ... chose ASU over the University of Arizona and the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.

Beverly Hills, Michigan (Seaholm HS)

Captain of the Olympic Development Program's Regional Team ... annual participant at youth national camp ... selected Most Valuable Player of the 1997 Midwest Club Regionals ... that year the club won the regional and advanced to National's in Phoenix ... participated in Adidas ESP camp, which the top 150 players in the country are invited to ... chose ASU over William & Mary, Indiana and Boston University.

Nicole Terry

Orange, California (Cypress JC)

Was an all-conference selection ... posted 25 goals and 33 assists ... Cypress JC was the California state champions ... attended El Modena High School ... chose ASU over UNLV.
