OMAHA, Neb. - USC scored four runs in its final three innings at bat held on for a 5-4 win over LSU to force a second game in the bracket two semifinal of the 1998 NCAA College World Series. LSU will face USC a second time tomorrow at 12:30 (Arizona Time) with the winner advancing to the championship game against Arizona State.
Come Saturday, the Sun Devils will have had two full days off after their 14-4 win Wednesday over Long Beach State. If LSU defeats USC, the championship game will be the Tigers third game in three days while the Trojans, if victorious, would be playing their fourth game in four days. The championship game is a winner-take-all, one-game final.
