Soccer Completes Spring Practice With 3-0 Shut Out Against Colorado

April 15, 2002

The Arizona State women's soccer team, under the direction of second-year head coach Ray Leone, completed its spring practice last Saturday (April 13) with an impressive 3-0 shutout over Colorado. Sophomore Stephanie Peel provided the offense as she posted the hat trick.

"Everyone played well and more importantly, with a lot of effort," commented Leone. The success of our team in the future will be determined by the effort we give on a daily basis. Today was a great finish to our spring in every respect and we are progressing as a team more and more every week. We are all anxious to start next season and see what we can accomplish."

Additionally, in the professional ranks, former Arizona State goalkeeper Kristin Slater was in uniform as a professional player as the back-up goalkeeper for the Boston Breakers. It was a nationally televised opening game of the WUSA League's second season against last season's champion, Cyber Rays. The Cyber Rays won the close contest, 2-1.
