TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State soccer team improved its perfect spring record to 3-0 with a 1-0 shutout over Wisconsin last Saturday at the Sun Devil Soccer Stadium. Patrice Feulner scored her third goal in as many games with an assist from Haley van Blommestein. In goal, Hilary Wilson and Kelly Fitzgerald split the first shutout of the spring for the Sun Devils.
Head Coach Ray Leone's comments from the game: "It was a tale of two halves; we were outplayed in the first half but responded strong in the second half. I was pleased that we finished the game strong and scored in the final five minutes of play against an outstanding team from the Big 10. I think both teams gained a lot from the competition and it is preparing us for our greatest challenge of the spring coming very soon. "
Leone's thoughts on the game vs. WUSA's San Diego Spirit that's coming up: "We are playing the San Diego Spirit from the WUSA League on March 29 at 4:00 pm at the Sun Devil Soccer Stadium and I really want to encourage as many people as possible to see this team play. It is a great chance for young kids to see world-class players in their backyard for the first time. Shannon MacMillan, who just scored the winning goal against Norway for the United States National Team in the Algarve Cup, leads the way for the Spirit along with Julie Foudy and Joy Fawcett and No. 1 draft pick, Aly Wagner. See you there!!!"
