TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State head coach announced changes in his defensive starting lineup Thursday. Junior College transfers Junior Ioane (DT) and Erik Flowers (RE) have moved up to the first team after playing a reserve role in ASU's first two games. Redshirt freshman Eric Fields will start at strong-side linebacker. Senior Derrick Ford, junior Ryan Reilly and sophomore Stephen Trejo will still see a lot of playing time, but will not start.
In addition, junior free safety Phillip Brown will start in place of senior Mitchell Freedman who may be out for as much as two weeks while nursing a groin injury. Previously this week, Snyder announced that Stephen Baker will take over the field goal kicking duties in addition to his punting responsibilities and redshirt freshman Scott Peters will get his first career start at left guard in place of the injured Randy Leaphart.
