SEATTLE – The rubber match in the Pac-12 Conference opening series between No. 22/22 Arizona State University and No. 17/18 Washington has been cancelled due to inclement weather.
Originally scheduled for 11 a.m. PT, the game was postponed until 2 p.m. before officially being cancelled at 1:20 p.m. with no end in sight to a deluge that overtook the Seattle area on Saturday evening.
The series against the Huskies officially ends in a tie, as it did last year when rain cancelled out the final game of the series as well.
The Devils (20-9, 1-1 Pac-12) fell to the Huskies (26-5, 1-1 Pac-12) on Friday night in a 13-inning marathon, 8-7, after tying the game at 7-7 in the top of the seventh inning.
ASU responded with a six-run first inning yesterday on the heels of a Bethany Kemp grand slam and held on against a fierce Washington rally to take the second game of the series in a 9-7 barnburner.
The Devils will return home next weekend for it Pac-12 home opener against the No. 11 California Golden Bears beginning Friday, March 20 on at 5 p.m. PT on the Pac-12 Networks.
