JUNIOR (2020)
- Boyd Vander Kooi was the veteran presence in the starting rotation for the Sun Devils last season but also provided much needed depth off the bench as well
- The junior led the team with a 0.70 ERA in 25.2 innings pitched. The ERA was good for second in the Pac-12 despite being second in the league in innings pitched
- Vander Kooi walked just two batters to 20 strikeouts last season and the 10.0 strikeout-to-walk ratio was second in the Pac-12 and 31st nationally
- His 0.82 WHIP was fifth in the Pac-12 while his 0.70 walks allowed per nine innings were third in the league and 20th nationally - but seventh among pitchers with at least 20.0 innings pitched on the year.
- In his last eight regular season appearances dating back to 2019, Vander Kooi has posted a 1.39 ERA in 45.2 innings pitched, striking out 42 with just six walks and seven earned runs allowed.
- Vander Kooi had tossed 14.1 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run over his last 4 appearances before the season came to an abrupt end last year
Sophomore (2019)
- Went 4-4 and was second on the team with 85 strikeouts to 39 walks over 95.0 innings pitched
- While the win-loss numbers and ERA might not have been there, Boyd Vander Kooi has put together a three-game stretch of starts at the end of the regular season as good as any ASU pitcher this season.
- Posted one of just two of ASU's complete game efforts on the season in his victory over Utah
- Gave ASU at least seven innings in three of his last four outings and posted five quality starts on the season
- Over the final three regular season weekends of the year, Vander Kooi had a team low 2.25 ERA, striking out 22 and walking just 4.
- His 20.0 innings pitched in that time were the most among all players while he allowed just one single extra base hit - also a team low, regardless of starting or relief pitchers.
- Vander Kooi struck out a career high 11 batters in 7.0 scoreless innings against #3 Stanford in the final game of the regular season. He became the first Sun Devil since 2016 to record 11 strikeouts in a game.
FRESHMAN (2018)
- Enjoyed an outstanding true freshman campaign, providing the Sun Devils a dominating presence on the mound.
- Made 10 appearances on the season, including five starts, finishing the campaign with a 3-3 record.
- His 3.00 ERA tied him for the lowest on the team among those with at least 36 innings pitched.
- Burst on to the scene with a fantastic collegiate debut, throwing a seven-inning complete game, allowing no earned runs and striking out five in a 11-1 victory over Miami (OH) (2/18).
- Put together a terrific performance in a 2-1 victory over Saint Mary's, going a season-high 7.2 innings while limiting the Gaels to just four hits and one run, striking out a season-high nine.
- Stuck out 35 batters, allowing just 12 earned runs in 36.0 innings pitched.
- Threw five scoreless innings in the Sun Devils 18-4 victory over Oregon (3/17), giving up only one hit and striking out four.
- Made his final five appearances (8.1 innings) out of the bullpen, preventing an earned run from scoring in four of the five outings.
- Did not allow an earned run in six of his ten outings.
HIGH SCHOOL

- Drafted in the 36th round of the 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks
- Served as a four-year varsity starter at Skyline High School
- Notched a 27-2 record posting a 2.09 ERA in 42 games in his high school career
- Hit a career .401 batting average with 141 hits, 91 RBIs and eight home runs
- Rated the No. 1 right-handed pitcher and No. 2 overall player in Arizona and the No. 31 right-handed pitcher and No. 87 overall player in the country by Perfect Game
