CAREER NOTES
  • Versatile scorer and outstanding rebounder.
  • Because of injuries, has been limited to 42 games (32 starts) in her career.  
2023-24
  • Made her return to the floor after missing the 2022-23 season due to injury.
  • Played in 12 games (11 starts) before suffering season-ending injury at Washington State (Jan. 19). At the time of injury, was 2nd on the team in rebounds per game (4.6 rpg) and 4th in O-rebounds per game (1.3 rpg).
  • Besselink, who had not played in a game since Feb. 6, 2022, was not only in the starting lineup in the season opener, but also played a major role in igniting ASU’s offense after hitting back-to-back triples in the first quarter vs. UTSA (Nov. 6). Hit a career-high three 3FGs on her way to 11-point performance.
  • Scored season-high 11 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds to post her second career double-double at Grambling State (Nov. 16).
  • Added 10 points and career-high 3 steals vs. Idaho State (Nov. 19).
  • Missed six games due to injury starting with contest vs. Fresno State on Dec. 20... Returned to action at Washington State (Jan. 19) and was limited to 7 minutes before leaving the game due to injury.
2022-23
  • Missed 2022-23 season due to injury.
2021-22
  • Missed more than half the season due to injury, starting seven of the 12 games she played in.
  • After starting the first seven games, missed ASU's next six games due to injury. She returned to action vs. Colorado (Jan. 21) and played until missing ASU's contest vs. Oregon State (Feb. 4). Returned for ASU's rematch vs. Oregon (Feb. 6) but did not play again. 
  • In per-game averages, Besselink was second on the team in both rebounds (5.3 rpg) and offensive rebounds (2.3 rpg). 
  • Pulled down six or more rebounds five times, including a career-high 15 rebounds vs. Minnesota (Nov. 12) which represented the highest single-game total by a Sun Devil in 2021-22.
  • Scored season-high eight points vs. Baylor (Nov. 26) and again vs. Utah (Jan. 23).
2020-21
  • After missing the first four games of the season due to injury, played a prominent role with starting assignments in 14 of the 18 games she played in. 
  • Led the team in rebounding (5.7 rpg/16th in the Pac-12) – grabbed seven or more rebounds seven times, including a career-high 13 rebounds (tying the single-game high by a Sun Devil in 2020-21) in ASU's upset of then-No. 9 Arizona on Feb. 28 – and was second in offensive rebounds (2.3 rpg/10th in the Pac-12). 
  • Posted her first career double-double (13 points, 10 rebounds) in ASU's Pac-12 Tournament contest vs. USC (Mar. 3). 
  • Knocked down 50 percent of her shots over the last eight games of the season.
HIGH SCHOOL
  • A 2020 graduate of Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School (Kingston, Ontario).
  • A rising star in the Canadian national program, in the summer of 2019 Besselink was selected to Canada’s U19 national team that participated in the FIBA World Cup in Bangkok, Thailand. Unfortunately she was not able to play in the tournament due to an injury suffered during the team’s training camp. 
  • Was ranked No. 23 at her position by ESPN.com.
  • Besselink’s provincial team highlights include helping Team Ontario win the gold medal at the U17 National Championships. In that tournament Besselink was named the MVP after accumulating five-game averages of 12 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists. In the final, she scored a team-high 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds in Ontario’s 67-56 win over Quebec. 
  • As a senior in 2019, Besselink scored a single-game tournament record 33 points to help her Holy Cross team win the Kingston Area Secondary School Athletic Association (KASSAA) senior girls basketball championship. Besselink would eventually help Holy Cross advance to the quarterfinals of the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association AAA girls basketball championships, averaging 20.3 points in three games.
  • In February, 2020, traveled to the NBA All-Star Game in Chicago to participate in the Basketball Without Borders Global Camp. The NBA and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) runs the camp, which invites the top international 64 girls and boys from 34 countries and regions.
