The ASU victory …
- Extended ASU’s series lead over Hawai‘i to 6-2 and ended the Rainbow Warriors' two-game winning streak (‘79 and ‘06).
- Kept ASU from losing consecutive games in the regular season for the first time since the final two games of the 2023 campaign
- Gave ASU a victory in its final non-conference game of the regular season and helped the Sun Devils avoid a losing regular-season nonconference record for the third time in the last five years (‘22 and ‘23). ASU had just five seasons with a losing noncon record dating back to 1950 prior to the ‘22 and ‘23 seasons.
- Gave Kenny Dillingham his 25th victory as Arizona State’s head coach.
Finish them
- Arizona State entered the game with 37 scoring drives in the final five minutes of a half in non-garbage time since the start of 2024, good for 16th in the FBS. They added two more on Saturday with a field goal to cap off the first half with 15 seconds remaining and sealing the game on a Reed Harris touchdown reception with 1:55 remaining in the contest.
- The Sun Devils rushed for just 52 yards in the first half before exploding for 179 second half rushing yards - keyed by Cardae Mack’s coming out party.
- The Sun Devils controlled the ball for 16:02 in the second half to Hawai’i’s 13:58 after trailing the Rainbow Warriors 17:19-12:41 in first half time of possession.
- ASU has struggled when trailing in time of possession under Kenny Dillingham, righting the ship to some degree on Saturday, improving to 7-12 in the category while holding a 18-7 record when it leads time of possession.
- ASU’s second half success was keyed by a 96-yard scoring drive late in the third quarter, capped by Mack’s 67-yard touchdown run. It was the longest ASU drive by yards since a 99-yard drive against UCLA in 2023 on Nov. 11.
- The Sun Devils had two of its three longest scoring drives of the season by time in this contest as well with its nine-play, 79-yard, 5:58 drive to cap the game late in the fourth quarter representing its longest of the season while its earlier 5:17 scoring drive in the first quarter was the third-longest.

Gold rush
- Cardae Mack became the fifth Sun Devil to rush for over 100 yards in a game since the start of last season (Raleek Brown, Jeff Sims, Jason Brown, Kanye Udoh). That mark is tied for the third-most in the country behind only Army and Rice
- The Sun Devils rushed for over 200 yards for the 18th time in the Kenny Dillingham era, improving to 14-4 in those games.
- The Sun Devils have rushed for over 100 yards as a team in 33 of the 45 games in the Dillingham era.
No rush - The Sun Devils have now held 30 of 45 opponents to under 140 rushing yards since Dillingham took over in 2023.
- Holding Hawai’i to just 64 rushing on Saturday, ASU has held opponents under 100 yards 20 times in 45 games. Between 2018-22, that had happened just 13 times in 55 games.
- ASU has held 10 of the last 21 opponents under 100 rushing yards dating back to the 2024 season
Reed all about him
- Senior wide receiver Reed Harris hauled in his sixth and seventh touchdown passes of the season on Saturday and set a career high in single season touchdowns in the process despite playing just five games as a Sun Devil.
- Harris had his third career game with 2+ touchdown receptions, all coming this season with the Sun Devils for his seventh touchdown of the season. In his previous 29 games at Boston College, Harris hauled in nine career touchdowns.
- Harris now has 590 receiving yards and seven touchdown receptions this season. The 590 are the most through the first five games of an ASU season since Jaelen Strong’s record 614 in 2014.
- The seven touchdowns are tied for the second-best through five games in ASU school history behind Shaun McDonald’s eight in 2002.
- His eight catches, 91 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions were all the most allowed by the Hawai’i defense this season.
Mack attack
- Freshman Cardae Mack’s had his coming out party while celebrating his birthday in style. His 154 rushing yards were the most for an ASU freshman since Keegan Herring’s 197 against Northwestern in 2005 (also had two touchdowns).
- Mack carried for his first career touchdown on a one-yard carry to put the Sun Devils up 14-3 in the second quarter. He added a 67 yard touchdown run in the third quarter to put the Sun Devils ahead 24-6. Going into tonight, Mack had nine carries for 60 yards on the season.
- He became the first ASU freshman running back to score two touchdowns in the same game since Chip Trayanum did so in his first collegiate game against USC on Nov. 7, 2020.
- The 154 rushing yards were the most allowed by the Hawai’i defense this season
A first time for everything
- Freshman defensive lineman Julian Hugo recorded his first two career sacks and first career pass breakup.
- Junior defensive back Kyan McDonald recorded his first career interception.
Odds and ends
- Senior Omarion Miller caught 6 passes for 78 yards, and surpassed 1,500 career receiving yards and now has 1,570 yards in his career. Miller is three receptions away from 100 career catches.
- Kicker Carson Smith’s 47-yd field goal is his longest of the season (fifth longest in his career).
- The Sun Devils had 15 total pass deflections through the first four games this season before it posted nine in today’s game - the most since also having nine in a win over No. 7 Texas Tech on 10/18/25
- ASU has held opponents to 30 points or less 34 times in 45 games (75.6 percent) under Kenny Dillingham and Brian Ward. ASU held opponents under the 30-point mark in in 68 of 100 games since 2018 (68.0 percent). This is notable as it DID allow 30+ in 32 of the 43 previous games (74.4 percent) in a span from 2013- 17.
- Arizona State has held opponents to 400 or less yards of total offense 30 times in 45 games (66.7 percent) under Kenny Dillingham and Brian Ward. Since 2018, ASU has done so on 59 occasions over 100 games (59.0 percent of the time). For comparison, ASU accomplished the feat just 24 times in the 65 previous games (36.9 percent) from 2013-2017.
Middle of the lineup
- Owen Long had his third consecutive 10+ tackle game, bringing his career total to 12. It is the first time having double digits in three-straight games since Keyshaun Elliott in a three-game stretch last year.
His 36 tackles during the three-game stretch, the most since Kyle Soelle’s torrential first half of the 2022 campaign.
Martell Hughes already has 39 tackles through five games this season. In 13 games last season, he finished with 39 tackles.
