Player Bio: Wes Evans



ASU: Hard worker who moved to tight end during his junior season after beginning his Sun Devil career as a defensive end...appeared in 27 career games, 14 on defense and 13 as a tight end...started four games as a senior...persisted in the weight room as well as on the field throughout his career, receiving Hard Hat player recognition three straight years for his work in the team's off-season strength and conditioning program...was recognized at the 2008 Hard Hat champion.

2008: Played in all 12 games, making four starts at tight end...had five receptions for 16 yards...made his first career start at No. 8 USC on Oct. 11...also started against Oregon on Oct. 25, Washington State on Nov. 15 and UCLA on Nov. 28...recorded his first career catch in team's win at Washington on Nov. 8, and went on to catch four passes for 11 yards in the game...also had a reception for five yards in win over Washington State...won the Tim Landers Iron Man Award, which is given to the Sun Devil with exemplary work ethic in the weight room, on the field or in the community, at the team's year-end banquet.

2007: Played in one game, the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl against Texas.

2006: Saw action in 11 games...earned significant playing time among a competitive and vastly improved defensive line rotation...recorded an assisted tackle against Nevada.

2005: Saw action in three games as a redshirt freshman (Northwestern, Oregon State and USC)...had one assisted tackle on the year, coming against Northwestern.

2004: Redshirted as a member of the scout team.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2004 graduate of Reno (Nev.) High School...earned all-league honors at defensive end in 2002 and 2003...was also selected as an all-league tight end as a senior...all-region and all-state honoree at tight end in 2003...captained his squad in 2003 and was a co-captain in 2002...turned in 45 consecutive starts in high school (started 15 games both ways)...helped Reno to the state championship in 2003...lists winning the state title as his most exciting sports experience...was the freshman football player of the year at Reno...also was the junior varsity football player of the year...a member of the National Honor Society...a Silver State Achiever...a Junior Achievement member...coached by Dan Avansino... attended same high school as former Sun Devil safety Josh Barrett.

PERSONAL: Earned his degree (B.I.S., interdisciplinary studies) in May of 2008...parents are Ken Evans (airline pilot) and Rosie Iveson (hair stylist) of Reno, Nev....his father played football at USC and his grandmother, Rose Iveson, was a gymnast in the Czech Republic...has four siblings: Barrett, P.J., Nicole and Keean...enjoys outdoor activities (camping, fishing, hunting) and mechanic work...born Feb. 28, 1986 in Reno, Nev....full name is Wesley Joseph Evans.
