Player Bio: Stacey Farnworth

Former Sun Devil player Stacey Farnworth continues on the Arizona State softball staff for her fourth overall year and the first year as the assistant coach after holding down the graduate assistant position last season. Farnworth will assist coaching the team's catchers and all day-to-day operations.

Farnworth was as member of the Greek Olympic team that competed in the 2004 games in Athens. She was the starting catcher and was able to record the first run for the Greek Olympic team to beat Canada. Farnworth also had a hand in the teams other victory over Italy.

Preparing for the Olympics, Farnworth played the past two summers in several international tournaments earning two gold and one silver medal. In the 2002 Canada Cup for the Phoenix Storm, the team finished in fifth place as Farnworth hit the game winning homerun against Australia's Tonya Harding.

During her two-year career at Arizona State, Farnworth played third base and catcher for head coach Linda Wells, helping the team to a regional final and semifinal appearance. The lone senior on the 2001 team, Farnworth made the switch from third base to catcher a natural change because of her quick release and strong arm.

As a senior, Farnworth finished second in the Pacific-10 Conference with five pick offs, just one shy of first. She also caught nine runners attempting to steal and finished fourth in the conference with a .994 fielding percentage.

As a junior at third base, Farnworth batted .240 and finished third on the team with 107 assists, playing and starting in all 58 games.

Before coming to Arizona State, Farnworth spent the first two seasons at the University of Utah. She earned Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors and was also named to the New Mexico All-Tournament team.
