High School: A 2008 graduate of Thatcher High School in Thatcher, Ariz...versatile athlete who lettered twice in volleyball and three times each in basketball and volleyball...captained her basketball and volleyball team twice in her tenure as a Thatcher High Eagle...in addition to her playing time at Thatcher, John also competed for the Club Red Volleyball team...excelled in volleyball, basketball and track including multiple accolades as an All-Conference player in all three sports...her junior year she led the Conference Champion Eagles and was named EA Courier All-Region and to the All-Tournament Team in the Arizona State Tournament as well as being named the team's Outstanding Defensive Player...her senior season Shawnee led Thatcher to another Conference Championship and repeated her All-Conference and All-State Tournament team accolades as well as being named an All-State Honorable Mention by the State Press, All-State by the AZ Daily Star, Arizona Coaches Association All-Star Game MVP and Team MVP.
Personal: A special education major...full name is Shawnee L John...parents are Todd (grocery store manager) and Donna John of Safford, Ariz...is the youngest of five with an older brother Chandler John (21), and three older sisters Chelsea Bryce (23), Brooklyn Smith (25) and Courtney Rasmussen (28)...comes from an athletic lineage, her father Todd played football at NAU, sister Courtney competed in volleyball for SCC and great-uncle Russell Wayt played football for the Dallas Cowboys and Rice University...born July 10, 1989 in Safford, Ariz.
