2004 (RS-Sophomore): Hit .260 (20-for-77) with four doubles, three home runs and 12 RBI... appeared in 36 games and made 13 starts... 12 of his 13 starts came at designated hitter and one in right field... went 2-for-2 with RBI against No. 2 Stanford before coming out of the game after being hit by a pitch... went 3-for-3 with two runs scored off the bench against Connecticut (2/27)... hit first home run of the season against California (3/20)... hit game-tying home run in seventh inning against Washington (3/28)... went deep at Isotopes Park in 22-4 win over New Mexico... has made 11 starts this season, with 10 coming at DH and one in right field... went 5-for-11 (.455) during season-high three-game hitting streak (3/28-4/4)... went 3-for-21 as a pinch-hitter... batted .344 (11-for-32) with two home runs against left-handed pitching... transferred to Florida International following the 2004 season.

2003 (Sophomore): Played in only five games in 2003 and was 3-for-7 (.429) with a double and an RBI... sprained his ankle in pregame warm-ups against Long Beach State (1/31) and also suffered an ongoing offseason back injury that let him utilize a medical redshirt... played summer baseball with Northern Ohio in Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League with teammates Eric Van Slyke and Matt Leaf... named first-team All-Great Lakes League while hitting .306 with Northern Ohio... finished sixth in the league with 23 RBI and tied for first with five home runs... hit a solo home run against Team USA.

2002 (Freshman): A pinch-hitter through much of the first part of the season until starting the last 16 games of the year... raised his batting average from .097 on Apr. 26 to its season-ending mark of .239... was 19-for-61 (.311) with 21 of his 28 RBI and five of his six home runs during that stretch of games... led ASU with two multi-home run games... moved into the starting role when right fielder Andre Ethier broke his right thumb at Notre Dame (4/26)... hit three-run home run at Washington State (4/7) for first career home run in first career start... had two home runs and four RBI vs. New Mexico State (4/30)... had another two home run game and a career-high five RBI vs. USC (5/19)... hit .059 (1-for-17) as a pinch-hitter... was a .333 (13-for-39) hitter with runners in scoring position.

High School: A four-year varsity baseball player at Apollo High School in Glendale, Ariz.... coached by Ray Alonzo... a three-time all-state selection, including a first-team selection his junior and senior seasons... Apollo went a combined 95-35 during his prep career... hit .442 his freshman season while earning all-region honors... named second-team all-state and repeated as an all-region selection while hitting .490 his sophomore year... named first-team all-state and was the Skyline League MVP his junior year while hitting .516... set single-season Apollo records during junior year with 14 home runs and 38 RBI... honorable mention All-American... improved on his records during senior season, earning all-state and All-America honors his senior season... hit 17 home runs, collected 45 RBI and hit .496 his senior season... broke the school record for home runs in a career, set by former Sun Devil and current Los Angeles Dodger Paul Lo Duca... also played football... played summer baseball for Arizona Baseball Academy, helping lead his team to a sixth place showing at the AAU Nationals... Participated in the 2000 Area Code Games in Long Beach, Calif., and also played in the annual Sunbelt Classic and the Best of the West Showcase.

MLB Draft: Selected in the 42nd round of the 2001 Amateur draft by the Kansas City Royals.

Personal: Majoring in sociology... a maroon and gold scholar... parents are Jack and Candee Samora of Glendale, Ariz... siblings are Jackie (12) and Jacob (10)... also recruited by Pepperdine, Arizona, Pacific and Long Beach State... lists receiving a scholarship to ASU and breaking Bob Horner's Apollo High School record as his most exciting moments in sports... enjoys baseball, church and spending time with his family... worked for the city of Glendale as a recreation events coordinator... currently works at Honey Bears BBQ, commonly known as the best BBQ in the state of Arizona... in high school worked at Baseball Palace Batting Cages... has volunteered with the Special Olympics, Adopt a Family for the Holiday Project and was a student mentor during high school... born Nov. 17, 1982.
