Maggie (Germaine) Ethier, a former All-American Gymnast and graduate of Arizona State, became an assistant coach for John Spini in July of 2005. Her primary coaching responsibilities are on the balance beam and floor exercise. She choreographs the routines for both of those events. Last season she helped coach Nicole Harris to All-American status on the balance beam.
As a Sun Devil athlete, Ethier was one of the most successful gymnasts at ASU. She earned All-American status in 2001 on the vault and in 2003 on the floor. In 2003, she received first-team all-Pac-10 Conference accolades on the floor and in the all-around. She was also named to the Pac-10 All-Academic team in 2002, 2003, and 2004. She has scored nine 10.0s in her career, including two on the vault, one on the beam, and six on the floor. In 2004 alone, she recorded five perfect scores. She was also named a Maroon and Gold scholar athlete.
Ethier has also served as a coach for many clubs in the area.
She is married to former ASU baseball player and current Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier.
Ethier has extensive experience in fitness and physical training. She served as the Fitness Director at Mountainside Fitness and has formerly been a Physical Therapy Technician at Advanced Spine Rehab and a personal trainer at LA Fitness.
