Kyle Dodd played more minutes than any other Sun Devil from 1999-2003. Dodd averaged 20.7 minutes per game in his four seasons and 122 games, but got a break on minutes as the program continued to develop depth in the backcourt. He had 306 assists and just 105 turnovers, a 2.91-to-1 ratio and averaged only one turnover every 24.1 minutes. Participated in the 2003 NABC Slam Dunk Championship at the Final Four and had eight dunks in game.
Led Pac-10 in assist-to-turnover ratio (4.72) in overa ll games and also led the loop in the 18 Pac-10 games (5.85) in his senior year. He had 76 assists and just 13 turnovers in Pac-10 play, and had just 14 turnovers in the final 22 games (449 minutes).Started the final six games of the year. Had eight assists and six rebounds in final home game of the year as ASU clinched fourth-place in the Pac-10 with a win over Oregon State.
In his junior season (2001-2002) he had 44 assists and just 14 turnovers in final 21 games (362 minutes). Notched five assists in 24 minutes vs. Washington on Feb. 9. Had 10 points at Washington on Jan. 10 and posted six points and five assists in win over eventual Pac-10 champion Oregon on Jan. 6. Started nine games on the year.
Averaged 26.3 minutes per game in Pac-10 play in his sophomore season (2000-2001), tied for third on the team, and started four games. He had just 32 turnovers in 751 minutes on the year (one turnover every 23.5 minutes) and had 10 points at USC on Feb. 15 including a two-handed dunk. First start came on Feb. 10 vs. Washington and he posted six assists and no turnovers in 33 minutes. Notched 15 points vs. Conference USA Tournament champion Charlotte on Dec. 30 and had eight points and six boards in 31 minutes vs. MAC Tournament champion Kent State on Nov. 25.
Showed tremendous poise in his rookie year (1999-2000), even nailing the game-winning three-pointer in overtime as ASU won at Washington State 81-79 and began its first four-game Pac-10 win streak since 1995. ASU was 5-2 when he started, as he started every game of the four-game Pac-10 win streak. In his final 24 games, he posted 56 assists and just 16 turnovers in 466 minutes, an average of one turnover every 29 minutes and he did not turn the ball over in the final six games (62 minutes). He had a season-high 10 assists and four steals vs. UCLA on Feb. 17, as ASU ended a 22-game losing streak to the Bruins in convincing fashion, 104-75. Played 24 minutes with three assists and just one turnover at Cal in double-overtime game on Jan. 8 when Eddie House scored 61 points.
