Arizona State: Ranks ninth on the school's all-time outdoor lists in a pair of events, including the 400m dash (45.29) and the 400m hurdles (51.44)... also is a member of the third-fastest indoor 4x400m relay team in ASU history with a time of 3:06.34 that was turned in by Jimmie Gordon, Darryl Elston and Justin Kremer in 2008 to finish third at the NCAA Championships... that third-place finish helped secure the team's first national indoor team title... 2009 Outdoor: Redshirted... 2009 Indoor: Competed in the 400m dash on three occasions... Friday Night Challenge runner-up at 47.94... helped the 4x400m relay win the MPSF Championship and qualify provisionally for the NCAA Championships twice... relay added titles at the Friday Night Challenge and the Mountain `T' Invitational... 2008 Outdoor: Earned All-America honors in the 400m dash by finishing seventh at the NCAA Championships... became only the third Sun Devil to earn All-America honors in the 400m dash both indoors and outdoors in the same season (Jason Barton in 2004 and Tony Berrian in 1999)... finished third in the Pac-10 with the ninth-fastest time in school history (45.29) and took ninth in the 400m hurdles... placed second in the West Region at 400m (46.60)... capped his first year with the Sun Devils by competing in the 2008 Beijing Olympics for his native Grenada... ran in the 400m dash, finishing sixth in his heat and 39th overall in 46.30... 2008 Indoor: Played a large role in ASU's first indoor team title by earning All-America honors in the 400m dash and the 4x400m relay... took national runner-up honors in the open quarter, running 46.27 in the final, the sixth-fastest time in school history... anchored the 4x400m relay of Darryl Elston, Justin Kremer and Jimmie Gordon to a third-place finish with the school's third-fastest time of 3:06.64 to clinch the team title... the same relay also won the MPSF Championships and took second at the Iowa State Classic... won the 400m dash three times on the season, including the Friday Night Challenge, the NAU Tune-Up and the Washington Last Chance... placed sixth at the MPSF Championships.

Central Arizona: Earned his Associates from Central Arizona College (Coolidge, Ariz.) in 2007... competed on the track & field team for two seasons... won the 2007 NJCAA Outdoor Decathlon title with 6,799 points to help CAC win team crown... helped 4x400m relay to 2006 NJCAA Outdoor crown... CAC also won the 2006 NJCAA team championship and added regional championships in both seasons... ranks fourth on the all-time CAC lists in the 4x400m relay, sixth in the decathlon (6,799 points), eighth in the 400m hurdles (51.50) and ninth in the javelin (58.36m).

High School: A 2004 graduate of Grenada Boy's Secondary School (Tanteen, St. George's, Grenada)... competed on the track & field team and served as its captain as a junior and senior... won individual championships at the sub-junior (2000), junior (2001) and senior (2003, 2004) meets... selected Grenada Student-Athlete of the Year three times... competed in the 2006 IAAF World Junior Championships of Athletics in Beijing, finishing 23rd in the 400m dash.

Personal: Majoring in recreation management and exercise/wellness... parents are Joseph and Carmen Phillip... has six siblings: brothers Jason, Jenson, Jonell and Jerron and sisters Jennilyn and Joann... born September 12, 1987, in St. George's, Grenada... hobbies include soccer, music and the beach... full name is Joel Japheth Phillip.
