JUNIOR COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY OF UTAH: Started his collegiate career as a basketball player at the University of Utah … played one season for Rick Majerus … his Ute team won the 1999 Western Athletic Conference title … transferred to Palomar Community College in San Diego … helped his Palomar team to a Pacific Coast Conference championship … earned first-team all-league honors at Palomar as a power forward.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 1998 graduate of Torrey Pines High School in San Diego … earned two letters each in football and basketball … was a team captain in basketball and earned all-conference honors in 1998.
