2002 (Junior): Led the team with an overall 2.01 ERA in his rookie campaign with the Sun Devils (no IP minimum)... was 5-1 in 14 appearances... was 3-0 with a 1.65 ERA in his three starts... made 11 relief appearances and was 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA in those games... limited opposing batters to a .248 batting average... allowed only eight extra base hits in 40.1 innings... best outing of the year came in start vs. San Diego in NCAA Regional... threw a complete-game seven hitter while striking out a career-high seven batters against the Toreros... also picked up the win vs. San Diego in tournament opener with two strong innings out of the bullpen... named to the NCAA Regional all-tournament team going 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA in 11.0 combined innings... allowed only one hit in three innings vs. nationally ranked Florida State in ASU debut (2/16)... allowed only two of seven inherited runners to score.
Junior College: Attended Cochise College in Douglas, Ariz., for the 2000 and 2001 baseball seasons... played for head coach Todd Inglehart... 2001: Pitched in 16 games, with 14 coming as starts, going 10-4 with a 3.52 ERA... struck out 93 in 102.1 innings pitched... had a 8.18 strikeouts per game average (over nine innings)... recorded seven complete games... named second team All-NJCAA Region I and first team All-ACCAC... played for the Madison (Wisc.) Mallards in the Northwoods League over the summer... went 4-2 with a team-leading 2.12 ERA in 17 games... opposing batters hit only .195 off him in 34.0 innings... recorded one complete-game shutout. 2000: Went 4-6 with a 5.68 ERA while pitching in 88.2 innings... made 20 appearances and recorded one save.
High School: A 1999 graduate of St. Pius X High School in Albuquerque, N.M.... earned three varsity letters in baseball under head coach Paul Chavez.
