Player Bio: Brandon Rodd



ASU: Excellent student-athlete that earned recognition in the classroom and on the gridiron...was a fixture at left tackle for the Sun Devils and also saw time at guard early in his career...earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 recognition in each of his final three seasons at ASU...started all 36 games he played at ASU, including all 13 at left tackle as a senior...was a four-time recipient of Pac-10 All-Academic honors, including Second-Team recognition as a junior and as a senior...was named to the 2007 Lombardi Award preseason watch list.

2007: Started all 13 games at left tackle as a senior...earned Second-Team All-Pac-10 honors by PhilSteele.com...earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 recognition and Second-Team Pac-10 All-Academic honors...earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII honors...was invited to play in the 2008 East-West Shrine Game and Hula Bowl postseason all-star games...was named ASU's Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman of the Year at the team's year-end banquet...was a main factor in ASU's offense which ranked third in the Pac-10 in scoring offense (32.3 ppg.)...was one of five Sun Devils and eight ASU offensive linemen to have earned his undergraduate degree prior to the start of the 2007 season.

2006: Started 10 games at left tackle...earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 honors and was named second-team Pac-10 All-Academic...helped contribute to ASU's offense, highlighted by its greatly improved rushing attack featuring the highest team total since 1999 and the team's first 1,000-yard rusher since 2001...ASU finished second in the Pac-10 Conference with an average of 169.7 rushing yards per game...as ASU's top left tackle, he protected quarterback Rudy Carpenter's blind-side, helping allow Carpenter to be only the second ASU quarterback in the past 10 seasons to start every game of the year...was ranked as the No. 51 offensive tackle in the nation by Phil Steele...named a preseason first-team All-Pac-10 honoree by Athlon Sports...regarded as a preseason third-team All-Pac-10 member by Phil Steele...a capable student, he has twice earned Pac-10 All-Academic recognition...for the second time in his career he was recognized as a Hard Hat Player for his for in the team's winter strength and conditioning program (top five overall).

2005: Started all 12 games, one of only five Sun Devils to do so...earned honorable mention All-Pac-10 honors...also earned honorable mention Pac-10 All-Academic honors for the second consecutive season...contributed to an offense that finished first in the Pac-10 and third in the nation in passing yards per game (373.4 avg.), second in the Pac-10 and third in the nation in total offense (519.1 avg.) and third in the Pac-10 and seventh in the nation in scoring offense (36.8 avg.)...was a key factor in helping ASU to its highest rushing yards-per-game average since 2001 (145.7 avg.)

2004: Started ASU's season opener vs. UTEP at left guard...tore the ACL on his right knee in that game and missed the rest of the season...was granted a medical redshirt...earned honorable-mention Pac-10 All-Academic accolades.

2003: Redshirted as a member of the scout team.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2003 graduate of Aiea (Hawaii) High School...2002 all-state football selection...O.I.A. Red Division Football All-Star...Aiea High Lineman of the Week five times in 2003...was the Aiea High team captain...a preseason all-state selection...participated in the H.U.B. Goodwill Football Classic...was team captain for Higher, Faster, Stronger as a junior and senior...Aiea High Canoe Team Captain...in 2002, was a O.I.A. White Division Football All-Star...was all-state as a junior...Aiea Lineman of the Week three times...O.I.A. Canoe Team All-Star...was O.I.A. White Division Football All-Star as a sophomore...made Aiea High Lineman of the Week twice... an excellent student...lettered four times in football and four years in paddling...coached by Wendel Say.

PERSONAL: Earned his degree (B.I.S., interdisciplinary studies (business and education) in May of 2007...mother is Valeriz Lee (operations manager) of Aiea, Hawaii...has a brother, Jared (17), and two sisters, Aimee (25) and Nicol (16)...born Nov. 1, 1985 in Honolulu, Hawaii...full name is Brandon Edward Kaina Rodd.
