Player Bio: Ann Pedersen



Ann Pedersen (formally Ann Rowan) begins her sixth season as an assistant coach on Linda Wells' staff. As Wells' top assistant, Pedersen is responsible for managing the recruitment process, initial eligibility and assisting with on-field coaching.

For more than a decade Pedersen has been apart of Arizona State athletics after playing here as a standout shortstop from 1988-91. A perennial hitter for the Sun Devils, Pedersen's outstanding softball achievements earned her several long-standing marks in ASU's record book, including still holding the most hits in a single-season with 86.

A second-team All-American and first-team all-region pick in 1990, Pedersen ranks second all-time in Arizona State history in hits (245), third in triples (11), fourth in stolen bases (37), fifth in doubles (24) and eighth in RBIs (81). She finished ninth in career batting average with a .312 (minimum 200 at bats) and also earned All-Pacific-10 Conference distinction in 1990 and '91.

In addition to her collegiate accomplishments, Pedersen was a member of three gold medal winning national teams. She was one of 18 players chosen from a pool of 95 of the top women's fast pitch softball players who competed for the coveted positions on the USA Softball National Team. perennial

Pedersen earned her first gold medal as a member of the 1991 Pan American Games. Her second gold medal came as a member of the 1993 USA National Team, which won the Intercontinental Cup in Holland. Pedersen's third gold medal performance occurred at the 1995 Pan American Games, where she batted .500 and scored five times while posting a perfect fielding percentage of 1.000.

A four-time Olympic Festival selection and three-time ASA All-American winner, Pedersen also played for the 1998 national champion California Commotion team.

Pedersen is a native of Tempe, Arizona and graduated from Arizona State in 1992 with a bachelor of science degree in therapeutic recreation.

She is married to Mike Pedersen.
