1999:First Team All-Pac-10 honoree ... named Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and Defensive Team MVP by the coaching staff ... his 21 tackles for loss led all Pac-10 players and ranked as the sixth-best single-season total in ASU history ... first Sun Devil to have 100+ tackles since Scott Van der Ahe had 106 in 1996 ... second in the Pac-10 with 10.2 tackles per game ... fourth in the conference with 111 total tackles (102 regular season) despite missing the season opener with a hamstring injury ... second on the squad with five sacks ... named Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Week following 13-tackle, one-sack performance against Washington State ... another impressive outing came at Cal when he recorded 13 tackles and two sacks, both team highs ... gathered his first career interception during dramatic win over UCLA ... led the squad in total tackles six times ... his nine-tackle (seven solo) effort in the Aloha Bowl against Wake Forest earned him ASU MVP honors. 1998: Averaged 6.8 tackles per game, 17th in the Pac-10 ... led Arizona State with 18 tackles for loss, which ranked third in the Pac-10, and five sacks ... also was first on the team with two fumble recoveries ... started his first game as a Sun Devil in the season opener against Washington ... posted one solo tackle and three assists in the loss ... recovered a Ken Simonton fumble at the OSU 34 in the second quarter ... sacked Terrance Bryant for a loss of nine yards on first and 10 to stop the Beavers' final drive of the game ... named Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Oregon State ... posted five solo tackles at USC ... one stopped the Trojan offense at the line of scrimmage on second and 10 at their own one-yard line in the second quarter ... recorded one solo tackle, seven assists and two tackles for a total loss of 10 yards against Notre Dame ... also had one sack for a seven-yard loss ... the sack gave the Irish a fourth and 14 at their own three-yard line in the second quarter ... tallied three solo tackles and four assists for a team-high seven total tackles in the Sun Devils' 55-22 rout of California ... sacked Justin Vedder on second and 10 at the Cal 16 in the second quarter ... forced Vedder to fumble the ball, which he recovered at the Cal six-yard line ... tallied three solo tackles, one assist and two tackles for a 13-yard loss at Arizona ... one of the tackles for loss pushed Dennis Northcutt back 10 yards to his own 13-yard line on the first drive of the game. 1997: Played in all 12 games, tallying 17 tackles ... had a season-high five tackles in his Sun Devil debut, the season-opener against New Mexico State.
HIGH SCHOOL:A 1996 graduate of Chandler High School, Chandler, Ariz.... as a junior and senior, earned first-team all-central region... was all-state honorable mention... was named Channel 12 News Defensive Player of the Year... named all-valley as a defensive back and running back... was MVP for 1996 All-Hispanic team ... coached by Jerry Loper.
