TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State University softball players Phelan Wright and Nichole Thompson were named to the All-Pacific Region team announced Wednesday. Wright, a sophomore third baseman, was a first team selection, while Thompson earned second team accolades as a utility player. Both players are now eligible to earn All-American honors.
Wright, who was also recently selected a first team All-Pac-10 choice, is leading the team in batting average (.431), hits (69) and doubles (15).
Thompson, a second team All-Pac-10 choice, makes her second appearance on the all-region team as she earned the same honor as a sophomore. Thompson plays both first base and the outfield, carries a .370 batting average and leads the team with 12 stolen bases.
