TEMPE, Ariz. (www.TheSunDevils.com) -- Arizona State junior shortstop Dustin Pedroia has been named a first-team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) for the second year in a row.
Pedroia (Woodland, Calif.) hit .393 (96-for-244) with 78 runs scored, 24 doubles, nine home runs and 49 RBI in 2004. He was named a first-team All-American by Sports Weekly/USA Today and a second-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball. The second-round draft pick of the Boston Red Sox also became only the fourth player in ASU history to earn first-team All-Pac-10 honors three straight years.
Pedroia ended his career ranked seventh with a career .384 (298-for-777) batting average and was fourth with 298 hits and 71 doubles. He also cracked the career top 10 in total bases (423), runs (212) and at-bats (777).
