No. 5 Softball to Face Some of the Nation's Best at Judi Garmen Classic

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Sun Devil Softball squad (26-1 overall) take to the road for the first time in the 2011 season riding a 22 game winning streak as they take to Fullerton to compete in the Judi Garmen Classic. Awaiting the Sun Devils in Cali are the Penn State Nittany Lions, No. 6 Michigan Wolverines, Pacific Tigers, No. 19 Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns and Boise State Broncos. First games are Thursday at 10 a.m. PT against Penn State and 1 p.m. PT versus No. 6 Michigan.

Series History 

Versus the Nittany Lions the Sun Devils currently hold a 6-1 record all-time with their first meeting coming in 1987. All-time against Penn State Clint Myers is 2-0. 

 

Against the Michigan Wolverines the Sun Devils are 8-8 overall with first meeting coming in 1988 and their last meeting also coming at the Judi Garmen Classic where they lost 7-3. That is the only meeting Clint Myers has against the Wolverines.

 

Next up against the Pacific Tigers, ASU holds and all-time 14-6 record with their battles starting in 1981. All time versus the Tigers Clint Myers is a perfect 2-0. 

 

Against the Ragin’ Cajuns ASU enters with a 4-2 record since 2001 with Clint Myers meeting the ULL squad three time, all three at the Judi Garmen Classic where he holds a 2-1 record. 

 

And a new face will join the Sun Devils series history as they play Boise State for the first time in program history. 

All-time at the Judi Garmen Classic, Clint Myers’ Sun Devil squads hold a 17-8 record.

 

Up Next 

The Sun Devils will return home again to host one last three game series as they take on UCSB next Friday, Saturday and Sunday with Friday and Saturday’s games starting at 7 p.m. and Sunday at noon in Tempe at Farrington Stadium.
