No. 14 Sun Devils Drop Rival Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona men's tennis team fell to 14th-ranked Arizona State Saturday at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. The Sun Devils improve to 13-5 overall while the Wildcats drop to 7-12 on the season.

The lone Arizona win came from senior Adnan Novo at the No. 1 singles position where he defeated Jeff Williams 6-3, 6-4.

Arizona State's Gustavo Maraccio defeated Wildcat junior Jean-Noel LaCoste at the No. 2 position 6-4, 6-1. Senior Pascal Salasca lost to Alex Osterrieth 6-4, 6-3 at the three spot, while Arizona junior Michel Stopa was defeated by Ed Carter at the No. 4 position 2-6, 6-1, 6-1. At the five spot, Sun Devile David Klinger beat Wildcat freshman Caleb Marquardt 7-6, 3-6, 6-3. Junior Alex Brown fell to Tim Hammond 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 6 position.

The Sun Devils claimed the doubles point by winning two doubles matches. Brown and Stopa lost to Maraccio and Osterrieth at the two position 8-5. Sophomore Brian Jackson and Novo were defeated by Hammond and Casey Was 8-5 at the No. 3 spot.

Arizona's LaCoste and Salasca defeated Williams and Carter at the No. 1 doubles spot 8-5.
