Tempe, Ariz. - The No. 1 ranked Arizona State women's golf team earned the top seed in the NCAA West Regional Championship, held May 10-12 in St. George, Utah. The West Regional Championship, hosted by BYU will be held at the Estrada at Snow Canyon Country Club.
Twenty-one teams and three individuals were selected to compete in each of the three regional championships. The West Regional includes eight teams ranked in the top-25 in the most recent Golf World/NGCA Coaches Poll. Duke won the top seed in the East Regional held in Baton Rouge, La. and Georgia earned the top seed in the Central Regional held in Ann Arbor Mich.
The top eight teams and two individuals from each regional will qualify for the 2007 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships to be held May 22-25 at the LPGA International Golf Course in Dayton Beach, Fla.
Last year, ASU finished in fourth place at the NCAA East Regional in Browns Summit, N.C. With their fourth-place finish, the Sun Devils qualified for the 15th straight trip to the NCAA Championship in Columbus, Ohio, in which ASU also finished in fourth place.
