TEMPE – Sun Devil Triathlon will be looking for the program’s eighth national championship on Sunday, Nov. 8, when Arizona State will be one of 15 Division I programs participating in the Women’s Collegiate Triathlon National Championship.

Following the program’s inception in 2016, Arizona State has either won a national championship (2016-19, 2021-23), finished as national runners up (2024-25) or the event was not held (2020 – COVID-19 pandemic). Last season, the Sun Devils were edged out by Arizona for the top spot after UA totaled 927 points to ASU’s 900.

However, Arizona State will enter the race as the nation’s top team at 492.66 points, 2.61 more than Arizona. The Sun Devils currently sit atop the team’s standings thanks in large part to Sidney Clement, who is the only collegiate student-athlete to record a race score of 100-or-more points this season after she logged 100.28 at the season-opening Southern Hills Collegiate Cup event on Sept. 5.

Zoe Mari Adam (98.41), Brooke Rousselle (98.15), Alex Campbell (97.93), Cara Macdonald (97.90) and Alice Alessandri (97.42) have all contributed towards the Sun Devils’ overall team season score as well.

Race Format (Run-Bike-Run)

  • Run 1 (2.5 km)

The race format was formally altered on Thursday, Nov. 5 after it was determined water quality following heavy rainfall and water release flowing through Tempe Town Lake did not meet standards for a safe win.

Up to five individuals will be counted in each team’s score, while the sixth and seventh finisher from a given team will displace other teams. Teams are limited to seven entries.

14th – Alice Alessandri
