- Thursday’s match will mark the first time Iowa State has played Arizona State in Tempe since Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, when the Sun Devils beat the then-No. 21 Cyclones, 3-1, behind a Stacey Tullock brace (14’, 54’).
- Tullock remains the only Sun Devil in program history to have a brace in a match against Iowa State.
- The two programs met in Ames, Iowa on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025 and played to a 1-1, 90-minute tie after Taylor Spitzer scored in the 85’ to tie the match following a Lucy Fazackerley goal to put the Sun Devils ahead, 1-0, in the 68’.
- Fazackerley is the only active Sun Devil – entering Thursday night’s match – to have scored against the Cyclones.
- Sun Devil head coach Graham Winkworth is looking for his first win over Iowa State throughout his 14-year coaching career at the Division I level.
Kicking Off
- A win over Iowa State would give Arizona State its third conference win this season, marking the first time the Sun Devils have won three of their first five league matches in a season since 2023 when ASU began Pac-12 play 3-1-1.
- A third win in Big 12 play would tie for the most league victories in a single season since joining the Big 12 Conference prior to the 2024 campaign.
- Third-year Sun Devil Kierra Blundell will take the pitch against Iowa State tied for the league lead in goals scored (3) in conference-only play this season.
- Blundell is also tied with UCF’s Naomi Clark, Texas Tech’s Taylor Zdrojewski, TCU’s Emma Yolinsky, Baylor’s Aryanna Jimison and Kansas’ Jillian Gregorski.
- Entering Thursday’s match, Arizona State is the only team in the Big 12 to have scored 25-or-more goals (26) and be credited with 25-or-more assists (27) through the first 12 matches of the 2026 season.
- After losing the previous match 2-0, Arizona State has bounced back with a 2-0 victory in the following match.
- Arizona State will be looking to avoid its first two-match losing streak in nearly a calendar year.
- The Sun Devils have not lost back-to-back league matches – let alone any back-to-back matches – since Friday, Oct. 10 and Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, when ASU dropped a 2-0 result at then-No. 24 Colorado and a 3-2 outcome against then-No. 12 Texas Tech the following week.
- First-year Sun Devil goalkeeper Kennedy Zorn is looking to become the first Arizona State goalkeeper to finish the season with a goal against average 0.89-or-lower after playing in more than four matches throughout the season since Giulia Cascapera (0.89 GAA in 16 GP) did so in 2020.
