Glencoe, ILL. – Freshman Natalia Aparicio sits in a tie for fifth after shooting -2 (140) after 36 holes at Lake Shore Country Club on Monday, where Sun Devil Women's Golf is seventh at +13 (581) through the second round of the Windy City Collegiate Classic.
Arizona State will play the final round tomorrow to conclude its second tournament of the fall. Starting off hole 10, Amelia Wan will tee off at 5:30 a.m. MST, followed by Kate Dillon at 5:39 a.m., Pateince Rhodes at 5:48 a.m., Fai Rubrong at 5:57 a.m., and Natalia Aparicio at 6:06 a.m. On hole 1, Johanna Axelsen will tee off at 6:15 a.m. as an individual.
In her first tournament of her collegiate career, Aparicio had a top-20 finish at the Mason Rudolph Championship finishing T-17th at +3 (217), helping the team to a runner-up finish in Nashville.
Sophomore Fai Rubrong improved in the second round by five shots, going -1 in the final 15 holes with no bogeys. The Sun Devils improved by nine shots in the second round, going -2 on the back 9 to close out the day. Aparicio made four birdies in an eight hole span during the second round to jump up into the top-5.
The team is playing against top competition in the nation, with seven of the 12 teams being tabbed in Golf Channel's preseason top-30 rankings.
