IRVING, Texas – Following a successful trip to Stillwater, Okla., last week, Sun Devil Soccer’s Gator DeMark has been named the Big 12 Conference’s Freshman of the Week, the league announced Wednesday morning.

With DeMark’s honor on Wednesday, the 2026 Sun Devil Soccer program tied the 2014 ASU squad for the most conference weekly honors (7) in a single season. She is also the seventh different Sun Devil women’s soccer student-athlete to earn a weekly honor by the Big 12 this season, which is already a new single-season mark for the program.

DeMark joins Jenna Whinney (Aug. 26), Mya Angus (Sept. 2) and Amy Medley (Sept. 16) as first-year Sun Devil defenders to earn the Big 12’s Freshman of the Week honor this season.

In a 73-minute outing – the most minutes played for DeMark in a Big 12 match this season and most in a regular season match since Aug. 30 – DeMark was credited with her first career game-winning goal after putting a shot from 24 yards out into the upper-left corner of the frame, above a jumping and outstretching Oklahoma State goalkeeper, during Arizona State’s 2-1 over the Cowgirls in Stillwater, Okla., on Friday, Oct. 16.

The goal came after the freshman was dribbling down the right side of the pitch, the shot crossed the face of the goal and went into the upper corner. The goal was also the first career collegiate goal for the freshman defender out of Phoenix.

On the defensive end of the pitch, DeMark was part of a Sun Devil defense that held Oklahoma State scoreless for a nearly the duration of last week’s 90-minute match against the Cowgirls, until a penalty kick in the closing minute put OSU on the scoreboard.
