Five team members earned recognition from the Big 12 Conference for the second straight week, with senior Ilya Kharun, freshman Alyssa Albertyn, divers Saeren Brett and Mario De Valle earning Big 12 weekly honors. Freshman Nathan Muratory won Big 12 Newcomer of the Week for his performance at the SMU Classic.
Sophomore Albane Cachot beat her own Big 12 record and school record in the 100 free at the SMU Classic, hitting the wall in 47.12, which is good for fourth-best in the country early this season. Additionally, Cachot lowered her 50 free time to 21.70, which is the second-fastest in school history.
Freshman Nathan Muratory swept both backstroke events at the SMU Classic by winning the 100 back (46.12) and the 200 back in 1:39.77, which is already good for eighth best in program history, helping him earn Big 12 newcomer of the week.
Freshman Alyssa Albertyn continues to make an impact for the Sun Devils, setting personal bests in the 100 back (53.39), and the 200 back (1:54.68) which ranks fourth best in school history. Albertyn also won the 200 free, setting a personal best in 1:44.95.
Senior Mario Del Valle improved on his diving performances at the SMU Classic and scored 338.70 (1m) and 364.20 (3m), helping earn a pair of second-place finishes.
