HOT SPRINGS, S.D. – Sun Devil Triathlon started its race toward hoisting an eighth national championship in two months on the right foot on Saturday morning, when Arizona State took the top spot at the Southern Hills Super Spring in South Dakota.
Sidney Clement, a First Team CTCA All-American in 2025, picked up her second career individual race win – and first since claiming the individual title as a freshman at the NCAA West National Qualifier on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023 – by being the only athlete to go under 31:00 as the Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada native posted a 30:51, which was 19 seconds faster than second – TCU’s Julia Visgueiro (31:10) – and 22 seconds faster than third – Denver’s Maira Carreau (31:13) – place.
Fellow Sun Devil senior Zoe Adam Mari posted a career-best fifth-place finish with a 31:25, while Brooke Rouselle, Alex Campbell, Alice Alessandri, Kathrin Ritter and Britney Brown claimed sixth through 10th place, respectively.
In her Sun Devil debut, Rousselle, a freshman out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, posted a 31:31 time, which was the sixth-fastest mark by any of the 67 participants. Kathrin Ritter, a freshman out of Klagenfurt, Austria, also posted a top-10 time (31:45) in her collegiate debut.

“Overall, I’m very happy with the result. The team looked really strong, and it was a great individual win for Sidney Clement, who had a very strong race. A lot of the women were really working together out there and sticking with each other, which really helps on the run for the scoring. Running together really allows each other to push their teammates. It was a great first race, but now it’s back to work on Monday as we get ready for our next competition in three weeks.”

The Sun Devils will now return to a three-week training session before returning to competition on Sunday, Sept. 27, when Arizona State travels to Loma, Colo., to participate in the Desert’s Edge Collegiate Cup, an event ASU placed first in a season ago.
