SAN DIEGO, Calif. – In the first tournament of the fall season, senior Sara Svetac claimed the singles title at the USTA SoCal Championships Sunday at the campus of University of San Diego, defeating her teammate Lily Taylor, 6-3, 6-4 in the final.
The six match winning streak in singles is Svetac longest since March 16, 2025 - April 11, 2025 and is one win shy of winning 50 career singles matches. Svetac, dropped only two sets for the entire tournament and beat teammate Zlata Bartanusz in the semifinals to get to the championship match.
In doubles, Taylor and junior Karin Altori earned a runner-up finish after dropping the final match 7-5. The Sun Devils as a team went a combined 23-8 in singles and 11-3 in doubles during the four days of play to open up the fall season. Complete match-by-match results can be found below:
