MANHATTAN, Kan. – Following Thursday’s result in Lawrence, the Sun Devil Soccer program will look to bounce back and earn three points towards the Big 12 Conference table when Arizona State takes the pitch at Buser Family Park to square off against Kansas State (5-1-4, 0-1-1) at 10 a.m. MST / 12 p.m. CDT on Sunday, Sept. 27.

Television

  • Brian Smoller (play-by-play) and Oscar Montenegro (analyst) will call Sunday morning’s action on ESPN+, which will be available to stream on either the Disney+, ESPN or Hulu apps.

Series history

  • Arizona State and Kansas State have met only once prior to Sunday’s contest: Oct. 17, 2024.
  • Keri Matthews (20’) and Cameron Valladares (85’) scored the Sun Devils’ two goals in Arizona State’s 2-0 victory over Kansas State on Oct. 17, 2024, at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium in Tempe.
  • Only three active Sun Devil Women’s Soccer student-athletes participated in the 2024 matchup between ASU and KSU: Kierra Blundell (65:39), Ella Kettles (85:49) and Addison Haws (36:14).
    • Blundell and Kettles were both credited with an assist, while Haws had one of Arizona State’s seven shots on goal.
  • Sunday’s match will mark the first time Arizona State has played Kansas State in Manhattan, Kansas.
  • Over the course of his 24-year head coaching career, Sun Devil women’s soccer head coach Graham Winkworth has never faced off against the Kansas State women’s soccer program.

Kicking off

  • Since joining the Big 12 prior to the 2024 season, Arizona State is 4-5-2 in league matches following a defeat in its previous fixture.
    • Most recently, the Sun Devils played to a 0-0, 90-minute tie at Arizona on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025; a match that followed a 2-1 loss to then-No. 9 TCU on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025, in Tempe.
    • The last time ASU won a match following a defeat occurred on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025, when the Sun Devils knocked off Cincinnati, 1-0, behind an 89’ goal by Grace Gillard in Cincinnati.
  • Sunday’s match will mark the first time Arizona State has played back-to-back matches in the same non-Arizona state since Aug. 21 – against Texas in Austin, Texas – and Aug. 24 – against Texas State in San Marcos, Texas – of the 2025 campaign.
    • The Sun Devils earned a 1-1, 90-minute tie against the Longhorns before besting the Bobcats, 5-1, three days later.
  • Despite not scoring a goal against the Jayhawks on Thursday afternoon, Arizona State still leads the Big 12 in assists per game (2.70), penalty kick conversion percentage (1.000) and total assists (27).
  • Sunday’s contest will give first-year Sun Devil Bela Puccinelli another opportunity to play inside a state – Kansas – where she played her first season of collegiate soccer after the Brazilian played her freshman season at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kan.
    • During her long season at Hutchinson, Puccinelli was named an All-KJCCC Second Team selection after scoring 10 goals and dishing out 10 assists for 30 points in 18 matches played.
      • Of those statistics, she recorded eight goals and nine assists for 25 points in 12 conference matches.
