NETHERLANDS – Sun Devil Women’s Golf alumnae Linn Grant and Carlota Ciganda played a vital role helping Team Europe reclaim the Solheim Cup, defeating the United States 15-13 by combining for 5.5 points at Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt, Netherlands on Sunday.

Linn Grant was one of two golfers (Alison Lee, U.S.) to go undefeated. 4-0-0, earning four points for Europe. Grant improves her Solheim Cup record to 7-6 and wins her second Solheim Cup title, first since 2023. Grant, won both of her Foursome matches over the United States with Maja Stark as her playing partner.

On Friday, Grant and Stark ended the Friday Foursome portion of competition with a 3-and-2 win over Rose Zhang and Jennifer Kupcho. The duo continued their momentum into Saturday with a 3-and-2 win over Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz and a 2-and-1 win in Fourball over Megan Khang and Lauren Coughlin.

Closing out the weekend, Grant won four of the first seven holes to take an early 3-up lead over Angel Yin, where she would later win 4-and-3 over Yin to give the Europeans a key point to reclaim the cup. Grant birdied a pair of par 3's on the back-nine to push her lead to 4-up, eventually, her birdie on the 15th hole netted a point for the Europeans.

Carlota Ciganda clinched the cup in 2023 in her native country of Spain three years ago, and did the same on Sunday with a dominant 4-and-2 win in singles over Kupcho. Ciganda, won five of the first seven holes with five birdies to take a 4-up lead. The Spanard would later birdie holes 13 and the par-5 16th, to help Europe reclaim the cup for the fourth time in the last five competitions. Ciganda improves her singles record to 5-2-1 for Europe.

Ciganda, which played in her eighth straight Solheim Cup, went 1-1-1 over the three days, earning 1.5 points for Europe. During Friday Fourball, she eagled the par-5, 16th to even the match, then holed a par putt on the 18th to split a point with the Americans. Ciganda’s all-time Solheim Cup record is 13-12-5.

“I think it's been one of the best teams that we've had in the last few years. Everyone just a unit, a team. That's what Europe is about,” Ciganda said to Amy Rodgers with Golf Channel after her victory. “And we had a great time. I think some great matches, lots of birdies. Yeah, very happy to do it for Anna.”

Aluma Anna Nordqvist commanded the Europeans to their fourth Waterford Crystal trophy in the last five Solheim Cups. After serving as vice captain in 2023 and 2024, she captained Team Europe to its third consecutive win on European soil. On August 26, she announced her retirement from professional golf and will embark on a new chapter of her life. Nordqvist, has been a part of six Solheim Cup titles for Europe since 2009.

“This feels so good,” Nordqvist said after the victory to Amy Rodgers. “Leaving the course yesterday, we were really excited for coming here today and, wow, was I impressed with every single player and caddie showing up to that first tee ready to play.”
