KILDARE, Ireland – Sun Devil Women’s Golf has representation overseas at the KPMG Women’s Irish Open - as part of the Ladies European Tour - with six Sun Devils of past and present teeing off tomorrow at The K Club - Palmer South Links Golf Course.
Alexandra Forsterling, Alessandra Fanali, Olivia Mehaffey, Beth Coulter, Roberta Liti and sophomore Kate Dillon are all competing this week in the Republic of Ireland.
Dillon, who is competing as an amateur in her home country has been busy this summer, winning the inaugural East of Ireland Women’s Open, where she finished the tournament 3-under (216) in June. Dillon represented Ireland at the European Team Championships, finishing tied for second in stroke play and helping the team qualify for match-play. She represented Team Ireland at the R&A Home Internationals earlier this month. Dillon will tee-off on hole 10 at 2:09 p.m. local time (6:09 a.m. MST).
Alumna Beth Coulter (2022-26) returns to the Women’s Irish Open for her third appearance, her first as a professional. Having turned professional in late July, Coulter has started her career winning her professional debut in a sudden-death tiebreaker at the Women’s Irish Challenge on the LET Access Tour, becoming the first Irish woman to win on home soil. She followed that performance with a runner-up at CSK Steel Women’s Open in Denmark one week later. Coulter will tee-off at 12:41 p.m. local time (4:41 a.m. MST) on hole one.
Fellow Irish alumna Olivia Mehaffey (2016-20) joins Dillon and Coulter as part of a record breaking field of 15 Irish players teeing up in Kildare. This will be Mehaffey’s fourth professional appearance at the Women’s Irish Open, teeing off hole ten at 8:40 a.m. local time (12:40 a.m. MST).
Alexandra Forsterling (2018-22) and Alessandra Fanali (2018-22) are no stranger to the tournament, both making repeat appearances this weekend. Fosterling has had a remarkable season so far with seven top-10 finishes this year, including a runner-up finish at the Swiss Ladies Open two weeks ago where she shot 12-under (201). Fanali plays in her first tournament since the Women’s Scottish Open in July. Fanali will tee off of hole one at 8:18 a.m. local time (12:18 a.m. MST), and Forsterling will tee off hole 10 at 7:56 local time (11:56 p.m. MST).
Roberta Liti (2014-18) comes into this event with momentum after a good summer. In late June, Liti closed out the Czech Ladies Open shooting a career-best final round of 63 (9-under), tying for sixth place. She will tee off hole one at 1:25 p.m. local time (5:25 a.m. MST).
