TEMPE – Looking to continue building on early-season momentum following results against New Mexico State and Texas, Sun Devil Soccer will square off against Buffalo (2-1-0, MAC) on Sunday, Aug. 23 (10 a.m. MST/ESPN+) inside Sun Devil Soccer Stadium.

 The first 100 fans will receive a free SnoBlast, courtesy of Bahama Buck’s. Fans who wear a Hawaiian shirt to the match will score a buy one, get one ticket opportunity at the gate.

Television:

  • Ryan Sykora (play-by-play) and Adrian Pelayo (analyst) will call the match’s action on ESPN+, which can be streamed on either the Disney+, ESPN or Hulu apps.

 Series History:

  • Sunday morning’s match will make the first time Arizona State and Buffalo have ever met on a soccer pitch.
    • The Bulls are 0-5-0 all time against current members of the Big 12 Conference.

Kicking Off:

  • With a win or a tie on Sunday, Arizona State will be unbeaten through its first three matches of a season for the ninth consecutive year.
    • The Sun Devils last lost one of their first three matches to begin a season on Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, when Ohio State scored in the 98’ to claim a 2-1 overtime win in head coach Graham Winkworth’s ASU debut.
  • Sunday will mark the 237th time Arizona State has played a soccer match at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium on a Sunday.
    • A win over the Bulls would move the Sun Devils’ all-time record on Sundays to .500 (105-105-27).
      • Friday (239) is the only day of the week that ASU has played more games on than Sunday.
  • Arizona State has never lost a soccer match on August 23 as the Sun Devils are sitting on a 2-0-0 mark entering Sunday’s contest.
  • Coming into Sunday’s match against Buffalo, Arizona State has won its next match following a tie in its last two tries.
    • Under Coach Winkworth, who is in his 10th season at the helm of the Sun Devils, ASU is 13-9-3 in a match following a tie.
      • Arizona State last recorded a tie in back-to-back matches during the 2023 season: Aug. 31 vs. Boise State (0-0), Sept. 3 vs. Kent State (1-1).
  • A goal during Sunday’s contest would mark the first time Arizona State has scored at least one goal in its first three matches to open a season in back-to-back years since 2021 and 2022.
