TEMPE – The six-time USA Triathlon Women’s Collegiate Triathlon National Champion Sun Devil Triathlon program, led by 10th-year head coach Cliff English, announced on Monday afternoon Arizona State’s 2026 triathlon event schedule.
The five-event slate begins in South Dakota for the Southern Hills Super Sprint and will cumulate back in Tempe for the 2026 USA Triathlon Women’s Collegiate Triathlon National Championship.
“Heading into our 10th season as a program, I could not be more excited to get this season started,” English said. “We’ve got a very strong freshman class coming in along with some great depth with our returning classes, which features a very strong senior class.
“Celebrating our 10th anniversary of the program is a big one for us and we are certainly looking to have fantastic season and reclaim the national championship title.”
Arizona State, which finished as the runner ups of the 2025 Collegiate Triathlon National Championship last November, will begin its five-event schedule on Saturday, Sept. 5, when it participates in the Southern Hills Super Sprint at the Angostura Recreation Area near Hot Springs, South Dakota. The Sun Devils finished last year’s event with 207 points, good enough for a third-place finish.
From there, the Sun Devils will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 27, when Arizona State takes part in the Desert’s Edge Collegiate Cup in Loma, Colo. In 2025, Naomi Ruff (second) and Sidney Clement (third) both earned podium finishes to help ASU to a first-place finish at the event.
A trip down I-10 to Tucson await the Sun Devils on Saturday, Oct. 10, when ASU will take part in the U of A Super Spring Heats hosted by the Wildcats. Tucson offered Arizona State a place of success in 2025, when it earned a second-place finish at the Duel in the Desert hosted by Arizona.
Arizona State will have a quick turnaround following its trip to Tucson as the Sun Devils will then head to the Lone Star State for the 2026 NCAA Women’s West National Qualifier at Marine Creek Parkway in Fort Worth, Texas. Successful qualifiers from this regional advance toward the USA Triathlon Women’s Collegiate Triathlon National Championship, which will be hosted by Arizona State at Tempe Town Lake on Sunday, Nov. 8.
2026 will mark the eighth time over the last 10 years – with the exceptions being 2020 and 2024 – that Arizona State has hosted the USA Triathlon Women’s Collegiate Triathlon National Championship.
