MALAHIDE, Ireland – Sun Devil Women’s Golf alumna Beth Coulter won her first professional tournament on the first hole of a sudden-death tiebreaker at the Women’s Irish Challenge Friday morning at Malahide Golf Club in Ireland. 

Coulter shot 2-under, 70 in the final round and birdied two of the final five holes to get into a playoff, where she then defeated Ayeon Yang on the 18th hole with a birdie to earn her first professional title. The win makes Coulter the first Irish female golfer to win a professional tournament on home soil. The former Sun Devil shot 5-under, 211 for the week.

 

Coulter announced the start of her professional career on Tuesday after four years competing in Tempe, having 20, top-20 finishes and eight, top-10 finishes in her collegiate career. The Ardkeen, Ireland native played alongside Patience Rhodes this past summer in the Curtis Cup for the second time.

“To win on home soil, in front of so many family, friends and Irish supporters, is incredibly special and something I’ll remember forever,” Coulter said in an interview. “The atmosphere all week was amazing and the support I received has been incredible.

The Ardkeen, Ireland native bounced back after an opening round 74 (+2), with a 5-under 67 to put her into second place at three-under, entering the final round Friday. Coulter eagled the 474-yard, par-5 for the second time this week to get back to even par in her final round. Then, birdied the 15th and 17th holes to tie for the lead.

Coulter has represented Ireland in several international competitions, including multiple appearances at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, European Team Championships and the World Amateur Team Championships. In 2025, she was a runner-up at the Clover Cup, finishing six under.
