FAYETTEVILLE, Ark – Sun Devil Track and Field concluded the four-day NCAA West Regionals hosted by the University of Arkansas at John McDonnell Field from May 26-30 with seven student-athletes officially qualifying for the NCAA National Championships set to take place from June 10-13 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
The first Sun Devil to punch his ticket to the National Championships was none other than junior sprinter Jayden Davis, the 2026 indoor and outdoor Big 12 Champion, who placed third overall in the men’s 400m with a time of 44.84. The trip to Eugene will be Davis’ third appearance at the outdoor National Championships after winning a 4x400m relay National Championship in 2024 and earning All-American honors in the 2025 400m.
Davis is joined by senior distance runner Dayton Carlson, who took seventh overall in the men’s 800m with a time of 1:46.08 to continue his historic season, which has seen two new school records and an individual Big 12 championship. Carlson is set to appear in his third National Championships and is a two-time All-American (2023, 2024).
On the women’s side, graduate thrower Ines Lopez finished first overall in the women’s discus throw with a distance of 60.57m, 198-8. Lopez’s regional winning, personal record throw of 60.57m is now the sixth-best mark in program history and the second-best discus throw by a Spanish athlete. Lopez will now compete in her third outdoor national championships after earning All-American honors in 2025.
Finally, the women’s 4x100m relay team of Aliyah Adams, Ashantai Bollers, Naiya Morgan and Alexia Schofield turned in a season-best time of 44.57 to take 12th place and officially qualify for the National Championships.
