STANFORD, Calif. – Sun Devil Women's Golf punched their ticket to the NCAA Championship on Wednesday afternoon after finishing in fourth place at the Stanford Regional.

No. 22 Arizona State (+4/856) has earned one of five berths to the NCAA Championship from the Stanford Regional. ASU will be one of 30 teams competing for the national title from May 22-27 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. The Maroon and Gold will be making their 40th appearance in the NCAA Championship, the most by any program in the nation.

This is the eigth championship that ASU has advanced to under Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye in the past nine years, who was at the helm when the 2017 team captured the program's eighth National Championship. Arizona State is one of only four programs in the country to make the NCAA Championship at least 23 times since 2000 (25-year span). They are joined by Duke, Stanford, and USC on this exclusive list.

Three Sun Devils found themselves in the top-25 when it was all said and done, led by redshirt junior Patience Rhodes (-6/207). The Big 12 Player of the Year finished tied for sixth place, continuing her decorated campaign.

Senior Paula Schulz-Hanssen (+1/214) played a role in the team's performance with consistent play. The senior carded back-to-back even rounds in the final two days. A strong final stretch of holes allowed freshman Fai Rubrong (+3/216) to ascend into a tie for 22nd. She ended with four  birdies on the back nine to cap her round.

Coach's corner
"What a day" Coach Missy Farr-Kaye remarked. "It could have gone either way at the turn. The team really liked the front nine and showed it again today.  Very proud of all six of our team members! They played with grit and determination until the final putt dropped. Patience led us all week with a strong top-10 finish! And Paula was a steady force for us placing in the top 20. Beth Coulter and Fai dropped some significant putts on the back side to put us in good position.  Now we head home to rest up and get ready for another NCAA Championship."
