TEMPE – On Thursday afternoon, Sun Devil Women’s Soccer head coach Graham Winkworth announced the 2026 Arizona State women’s soccer regular season schedule that is slated to begin on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
“I am very excited for this schedule. It has taken years to assemble a schedule with such prestigious opponents,” Winkworth said. “Every single one of our non-conference opponents has either won their conference or come very close in the last few seasons.
“Over the last few seasons, we’ve had to travel a fair amount, so teams will be making the return trip to us. And to be able to get three top level Power Four teams – in addition to those conference champions – to all come to Arizona the same year is something that should really excite our fan base.
“Last season, we set all kinds of attendance records and I’m very hopeful that – with the quality of play we offer on the pitch, plus the high level of opposition – our stadium should be rocking once again this fall.”
Following an exhibition match at California Baptist on Wednesday, Aug. 5, the Sun Devils will begin the regular season on Wednesday, Aug. 12 with a trip to New Mexico State. Afterwards, Arizona State will begin a four-match homestand that begins against Texas (Aug. 20), before playing Buffalo (Aug. 23), LSU (Aug. 27) and Cal Poly (Aug. 30).
After a quick trip to Tucson to play Dartmouth in a neutral site game, Arizona State will return to Tempe to play North Carolina (Sept. 6) and Grambling State (Sept. 11) to round out the non-conference portion of the schedule.
Sept. 18 will signal the start of Big 12 Conference play as Utah will make the trip to Arizona. Three straight road conference matches follow with trips to Kansas (Sept. 24), Kansas State (Sept. 27) and Texas Tech (Oct. 2) awaiting.
Two home matches against Iowa State (Oct. 8) and Houston (Oct. 11) proceed a trip to Stillwater, Okla., to play Oklahoma State on Oct. 16. The Sun Devils return to Arizona for a three-match stretch against Baylor (Oct. 22), Colorado (Oct. 25) and Arizona (Oct. 30).
A Nov. 5 trip to Provo, Utah to play BYU closes out the 19-match regular season slate, before the Big 12 Soccer Tournament begins on Nov. 9.
The schedule features six opponents – LSU, North Carolina, Colorado, Baylor, Kansas and BYU – that all made the Sweet Sixteen in 2025. Texas Tech also made the NCAA Tournament but fell to the Tar Heels during the Round of 32. Cal Poly pushed eventual national runner-up Stanford in the opening round of the tournament, before falling to the Cardinal 3-1. Dartmouth is the ninth 2026 opponent for Arizona State that played in last season’s NCAA Tournament as the Big Green battled Arkansas, before falling, 1-0, in the first round.
Additionally, Texas will be breaking in a new head coach, Margueritte Bates, who joined the Longhorns following a successful four-season stint at UCLA, and return the 2024 and 2025 SEC Freshman of the Year in Amalia Villarreal and Ava McDonald, respectively.
