STANFORD, Calif. – The Sun Devil women's golf team had a solid second round at the Stanford Regional with 2-under-282 on Tuesday. The Sun Devils sit at 4-over 572 (290-282) and are in the fifth spot, one stroke behind fourth-place Vanderbilt and two strokes ahead of sixth-place Missouri.

With Oregon State in third at 4-under and Illinois falling back to 16-over in seventh, the race for the five spots feels like a three-team-for-two-spot final round, with Stanford (26-under) and Pepperdine (7-under) pacing the 12-team field.

Big 12 Player of the Year and redshirt junior Patience Rhodes, who carded an even-par 71 on Monday, fired a 5-under 66 Tuesday that included four birdies -- and is tied for tournament lead with eight -- and an eagle on the par-4, 361-yard 15th hole. She is tied for sixth, three shots back of leader Emma Bunch from New Mexico State.

Coach's corner from Coach Missy
"After a slow start on front nine, we played beautifully on the back nine with 10 birdies and went 6-under. One more day...and still a fair amount of golf left. We
really finished strong and allowed us to move up the leader board. Now it is one hole at a time, one shot a time. Really proud of the really great job by Patience, and Paula hung in there after a tough start"
