TEMPE – The eight-time national champion Sun Devil Women's Golf team will be heading west after being selected to the Stanford NCAA Regional, hosted by Stanford, running May 11-13.

GOLF Channel announced the regionals during their NCAA Women's Golf Selection Show on Wednesday. Each regional will feature 12 teams and six individuals with a total of 30 teams advancing to the NCAA National Championships to be played May 22-27 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. The top two individuals (12 total) from non-qualifying teams from each regional will also advance to the championship.

This is the 33rd-consecutive year that Sun Devil Women's Golf has qualified for a regional, doing so every time since the format was instituted. ASU has not missed a NCAA postseason since 1991. The program earned their 33rd-straight NCAA postseason berth and will be making its 42nd appearance overall.

"It never gets old getting your name called on selection show day," Sun Devil Women's Golf Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye mentioned. "I'm very proud of this team and how they have positioned themselves all season to make a run in the postseason."

The program has claimed or shared a total of five regional team championships, with the last coming during their national championship run in 2017. In 2024, the Sun Devils had an impressive showing at the Cle Elum Regional, finishing fourth on their way to reaching the NCAA Championship in Carlsbad. ASU put together second place finishes at regionals in three of the last five years, also doing so at the 2023 Stillwater Regional and 2021 Columbus Regional as part of their run to NCAA Match Play that season.

In the fifth year of the new regional format, six sites were selected instead of the traditional four. For the fourth-consecutive year, there is an increase in advancing teams, changing from 24 to 30. In order to clinch a berth in the NCAA Championship and advance to Carlsbad, Arizona State will have to finish in the top-5 of the 12-team Stanford Regional. Five teams from each of the six regionals form the group that advances to play in the 2026 NCAA Women's Golf Championship.

Arizona State will be the No. 4 seed in a regional that features No. 1 seed Stanford (ACC Champion). The regional also includes No. 2 seed Pepperdine (WCC Champion), No. 3 Vanderbilt, No. 5 Missouri, No. 6 Arizona, No. 7 Cal State Fullerton, No. 8 Illinois, No. 9 Oregon State, No. 10 Cal Poly (Big West Champion), No. 11 South Dakota State (Summit League Champion) and No. 12 Navy (Patriot League Champion).

"We are quickly shifting our focus towards having a great week of preparation before hosting," Coach Farr-Kaye added. "This is a great site selection for us. We can't wait to be able to compete for a spot in the NCAA Championship in front of our fans. This team is confident and ready to make a deep run in May."

The Stanford Regional features nine of the Clipp'd top-50 ranked teams, including No. 1 Stanford, No. 11 Pepperdine, No. 13 Vanderbilt and No. 22 Arizona State. The regional also has its fair share of individual star power, with 10 of the top-50 individuals in the Clipp'd Player Rankings competing in the Stanford Regional. Stanford's Paula Martin Sampedro is the top-ranked player in the regional, coming in at No. 4, with three other Cardinals being ranked within the top 15. Arizona State has Patience Rhodes not far behind at No. 17 in the nation in the latest metrics.

The other five regional sites are Ann Arbor, Michigan (U-M Golf Course), Chapel Hill, North Carolina (UNC Finley Golf Course), Simpsonville, Kentucky (U of Louisville Golf Club), Tallahassee, Florida (Seminole Legacy Golf Club), and Waco, Texas (Ridgewood Country Club). From the Big 12, 11 of 14 teams made NCAA Regionals, a testament to the strength of one of the best conference in women's golf. Seven teams from the league received top-6 seeds, with Iowa State receiving the highest seed of any school in the league at No. 4.

2026 NCAA Women's Golf Championship
For the third-consecutive year, the NCAA Women's Golf Championship will take place near San Diego at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa, Champions Course. Arizona State made the 2025 NCAA Championship and finished ninth. Should they advance from a regional again, Sun Devil Women's Golf will attempt to win the program's NCAA record ninth national championship. Missy Farr-Kaye was in charge the last time that ASU won a title, defeating Northwestern at Rich Harvest Farms in Chicago for the 2017 NCAA Women's Golf Championship. The program also brought home NCAA titles in 2009, 1998, 1997, 1995, 1994, 1993, and 1990.
