The NCAA announced the 16 regional sites and the field of 64. The top 16 seeds were selected as regional hosts, while each regional features four teams. The first and second rounds of the tournament commence this Friday, with super regionals beginning next Friday, May 8.
Head Coach Jamea Jackson led the Sun Devils to a successful 19-5 campaign and shared the Big 12 regular season title for the first conference championship (regular season/tournament) in program history. The 19 wins are the most in a season since 2001. A win on Friday would mark 20 overall, and make the 2026 squad the fourth team to win 20+ matches since 1985.
In conference play, the Sun Devils won 11 matches, which is the most by an ASU team since 1985. The team won nine straight matches from March 14 to April 11, 2026, which was the longest winning streak since 2016.
The Sun Devils have reached the round of 32 in five of the last six NCAA tournament appearances and will attempt to make the round of 16 for the first time since 2004. The spring included wins over four top-30 teams, No. 15 Pepperdine, No. 26 Utah, No. 27 BYU, No. 29 Houston and Big 12 tournament champion TCU on January 26.
