PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Sun Devil Track and Field officially wrapped up the Penn Relays after a well-rounded effort in all areas of competition from Thursday to Saturday at Franklin Field.
Graduate thrower Ines Lopez headlined the weekend for the Sun Devils after taking home first place in the women’s discus throw with a mark of 54.44 (178-7) to put herself atop the podium.
This is now Lopez’s second win of the outdoor season in the discus throw, after a previous win at the Trojan Invite on March 27.
Arizona State was well represented in the 4x400 relays, as the men’s team of Jayden Davis, Destin Drummond, Duaine Mayrant and Dayton Carlson posted a 3:07.43 to take home fifth place overall in the championship race.
The women’s 4x400 team of Taiwo Kudoro, Alexia Schofield, Aliyah Canty and Taylor Brown checked in with a time of 3:35.75 to take seventh place overall in the championship.
Graduate sprinter Ashantai Bollers competed in the women’s 100m dash championship, where she took seventh place with a mark of 12.21 in the event.
In the long jump, junior Alexandria Johnson turned in a sixth-place effort with a distance of 6.05 (19-10 1⁄4), while graduate Claudina Diaz took a share of third place with a clearance of 1.70 (5-7) in the women’s high jump.
The Sun Devils will return to action with a trip south to compete in the Desert Heat on May 2, hosted by the University of Arizona at Drachman Stadium.
