SAN DIEGO - Sun Devil Lacrosse (7-8, 2-1 Big 12) resumes Big 12 Conference play with a meeting against San Diego State (2-11, 0-3) on Saturday, April 18 at 1 p.m. MST. With a win, ASU would own three conference wins and need a loss by Cincinnati to secure a spot in the 2026 Big 12 Tournament.

Saturday is the 10th meeting between the two programs in ASU’s nine-year history, and the Sun Devils have come out victorious in six contests and have won five of the last six games against the Aztecs.

Sun Devil Outlook
ASU ended its non-conference slate on Wednesday with a 19-6 loss to No. 12 Stony Brook. It was ASU’s worst margin of defeat this season, and marked the fifth time that ASU has faced - and lost - to a ranked opponent in 2026.

The Sun Devils lead the Big 12 in assists per game (7.87), points per game (21.73), and draw controls per game (17.53). Behar’s 50 assists lead the Big 12, while Ng and Oldknow’s 50 goals apiece are second in the Big 12.

Earlier this week, ASU picked up three Big 12 weekly honors: Goalie of the Week (Regan Spichiger), Freshman of the Week (Addy Westerberg), and Draw Specialist of the Week (Anna Viglione)

Scouting the Opponent:
SDSU has managed just two wins this season, with one coming against FDU at home and the other against Akron on the road. The Aztecs average just over nine goals per game and have not managed double-digit scoring since March 22, when they defeated the Zips.

A loss on Saturday would officially eliminate SDSU from Big 12 Tournament contention, as only the top four teams in the six-team conference make the tournament.

Sun Devil notables

  • Viglione was also announced as a second-round addition to the Tewaaraton Watch List and became the program’s first student-athlete to receive this nod.
  • She hit 200 draw controls on the year after nine against Stony Brook on Wednesday.
  • Viglione is also 25 draw controls away from 500 in her career.
  • Jordyn Behar's 50 assists are the 5th-best individual mark in the NCAA.
  • ASU owns the 2nd-best draw control per game mark (17.53) in the NCAA.
  • Senior attacker Teagan Ng brings a 46-game goal-scoring streak into Wednesday's contest.
  • Lydia Oldknow holds a point-scoring streak of 53 games – 52 of which she’s scored a goal in – dating back to the 2024 season.
  • Ng and Oldknow are the only pair of teammates in the NCAA with 50+ goals.
  • The Sun Devils are 1-5 in six road contests.
  • ASU is 6-3 against SDSU in program history
