TEMPE - Sun Devil Lacrosse (7-7, 2-1 Big 12) ended the 2026 home slate on a high note, beating UC Davis (7-6, 2-1 Big 12) 19-11 behind another record-breaking performance from midfielder Anna Viglione, who tallied 23 draw controls, a single-game program record and career-high mark. ASU managed 19 goals against an Aggies defense that was allowing just 9.67 goals per game before Saturday's senior day matchup.
The senior attacking trio of Lydia Oldknow, Teagan Ng, and Jordyn Behar combined for 10 goals and seven assists to round out the scoring on Saturday afternoon. Freshman midfielder Addy Westerberg netted the first hat trick of her career and became just the fifth Sun Devil this season to secure a hat trick.
The Sun Devils recorded 42 shots, perhaps an ode to Pat's Run that had taken place in Tempe that morning, which was one shot shy of matching their single-game high. The 42 shots were the most that the Aggies had allowed to an opponent all season.
Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper Regan Spichiger was credited with the win after her fifth double-digit save performance of the season, following 10 on Saturday.
How it happened
Less than a minute into the game, Westerberg found the back of the net, giving the Sun Devils an early lead. Teagan Ng netted the next goal, but two goals from UCD tied things up at 2-2. Ng scored her second goal of the game before Oldknow scored a woman-up goal, giving ASU a 4-2 lead. A goal with three seconds left from the UC Davis cut the Sun Devils’ lead in half to end the quarter, and it was 4-3 in favor of the home team after one quarter of play.
ASU managed eight goals in the second frame, thanks to a 7-3 draw control advantage in the quarter. Ng found her fifth and final goals of the contest by halftime, while Behar netted her first of the contest, and Ava Whitt joined the scoring. The Sun Devils pushed the lead to 12-4 going into halftime for the final time in Tempe.
The Aggies opened the scoring with a quick goal less than a minute into the frame, but Westerberg responded with her third goal of the contest. A goal from Teagan Lowery gave ASU a 14-5 lead, but UCD responded with a goal of its own. Behar scored the 15th goal for ASU before UCD netted another goal. Lowery’s second goal brought the Sun Devils up 16-7 to end the quarter.
UCD scored its eighth goal of the game to start the final quarter, but ASU responded with three consecutive goals, giving the Sun Devils an 11-goal lead, 19-8. UC Davis scored three goals against both of ASU's backup goalies to end the frame, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Sun Devils’ red-hot offense, as the 19-11 score stood final.
