TEMPE - Sun Devil Lacrosse (6-7, 1-1 Big 12) returns to Tempe for the final time this season to take on UC Davis (7-5, 2-0 Big 12) on Saturday, April 11 at 12 p.m. MST. The team will celebrate its eight seniors in a postgame recognition ceremony. First draw can be seen on ESPN+, or fans can follow along via Stat Broadcast.
In five games against the Aggies, ASU is 5-0 and averages over 16 goals per game. The Sun Devils have allowed double-digit goals to UC Davis; however, allowing nearly 12 goals per game to the Aggies.
Sun Devil Outlook:
In an important Big 12 matchup last week, ASU dominated in Saturday’s 17-10 victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats. Following three goals by the home team in the first four minutes, ASU outscored Cincy 11-2 in the next 30 minutes to maintain a lead and never look back.
In what would have been junior midfielder Anna Viglione’s toughest draw competition of the season, she outdrew Cincinnati’s Morgan Handzel 16-5. Prior to Saturday, Handzel had the next highest overall draw control mark in the conference - behind Viglione’s conference-leading 152 - with 110. Following the win, she was named Big 12 Draw Specialist of the Week for the 4th time this season.
ASU leads the Big 12 in assists per game (7.85), points per game (21.92), and draw controls per game (17.15). Behar’s 41 assists and Oldknow’s 46 goals each lead the Big 12 in their respective categories.
Scouting the Opponent:
UC Davis has opened the year with a 2-0 record in Big 12 Conference play en route to a 7-5 record overall. Defensively, the Aggies are holding their opponents to just 9.67 goals per game and have the best mark in the conference, turning the ball over just 9.5 times per game.
Last season - despite a losing record - the Aggies claimed the last spot in the Big 12 Conference Tournament and fell to Florida in the semifinal round by a final score of 22-2.
