IRVING, Texas – Junior No. 26 Emilija Tverijonaite was named Big 12 Player of the Week by the Big 12 Conference Tuesday afternoon. She earns her second Big 12 Player of the Week award of the season and is one of two Sun Devils with this honor this spring.

Over the weekend, she won three matches: two singles and a doubles match. She won in doubles playing alongside sophomore Aiya Nupbay with a 6-2 win against Texas Tech’s Elena Daskalova and Mariia Hlahola from the No. 2 position. Additionally, Tverijonaite won her singles match in three sets on Friday, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, to clinch the win.

Tverijonaite capped off the weekend with a straight-sets victory in singles on Sunday, 6-1, 6-4, helping sweep Colorado to extend ASU’s winning streak to seven matches.

Tverijonaite is 30-7 in singles overall this year, with a 14-2 dual record this spring. Her 30 wins in singles lead the team and is tied for the fifth most in a season by a Sun Devil. In doubles, she has a 14-10 record with nine of those wins coming with graduate Vivian Ovrootsky. The junior is one win shy of 75 career singles victories and is going into this week having won eight-straight matches.

The Sun Devils have two road matches left before the Big 12 Tournament. Arizona State will face off against No. 27 BYU on Thursday, April 9, at 11 a.m. MST and finish the regular season versus No. 26 Utah on Saturday, April 11, at 11 a.m. MST.
